In this piece, I wanted to capture the friction between the ground we stand on and the air that surrounds us. I started at the base with a heavy, dark texture—something that feels like ancient, sun-baked earth or cooling lava—to ground the composition in something permanent and weighted.

As you move upward, that heaviness gives way to a chaotic explosion of light. I used neon pinks and burning yellows to represent a hidden heat, an energy that is trying to break through the surface. The sky isn't just a flat blue; it’s a living, moving entity, built with turquoise layers that I’ve scraped back to reveal the 'fire' underneath. For me, this work is about the layers of our own perception—how we often see only the surface, but underneath there is a constant, vibrant struggle of light and color. I hope the viewer feels that tension—the sense that if you could reach out and touch the canvas, you’d feel the pulse of a landscape that is still very much in the process of becoming
