Carmen STRONG AND PROUD
50 W × 80 H × 2 D cm

In Strong and Proud, I wanted to look past the individual to find the posture of the soul. There is a specific kind of power that comes from standing in the light when the world behind you is a mystery of patterns and shadows. I chose to wash out the top of the frame with a blinding, atmospheric glow—almost like a cloud or a fog—to represent the weight of the unknown that we all face.

The central figure is an anchor. Against the rigid, repetitive geometry of the gate, her human form stands out as something organic and unyielding. For me, this piece is about that quiet, internal strength we find when we are most exposed. It isn't just a photograph of a woman on a stage; it is a portrait of the moment we decide to remain standing, no matter how bright the light or how dark the shadows. I hope the viewer feels that stillness—the breath taken right before stepping forward into the unknown
