Growth of Fashion

With this work, I wanted to explore the intersection of the permanent and the ephemeral. A bouquet of flowers is a classic symbol of fleeting beauty, but by rendering these forms in heavy, lustrous satin, I am freezing that moment of full bloom into something enduring and tactile.

I treat fabric as a sculptural medium rather than a flat surface. Each 'flower' in this frame is the result of a physical dialogue with the material—finding the exact point where the tension of a fold creates the illusion of a petal. I am particularly drawn to the way light travels across the satin; the deep violets and magentas don't just sit there, they shift and glow as you move around the piece, much like a garden caught in the changing light of dusk.

The lilac frame serves as a boundary for this soft, chaotic growth, pulling the organic shapes into a structured, formal space. I want the viewer to feel the 'softness' of the image. My work is an invitation to reconsider the everyday materials of our lives—the scraps and silks we wear—and see in them the potential for a permanent, silent garden that never wilts.
