Istanbul

In Istanbul, I wanted to capture the city not as a flat map, but as a living, breathing organism. This piece is a journey through the layers of our collective memory. On the very edges, you see the steel and glass of the new Istanbul—the vertical, impersonal towers that increasingly define our skyline. But as you move inward, the heart of the city begins to beat; the architecture becomes smaller, older, and more intimate, reflecting the chaotic beauty of the neighborhoods that have housed us for centuries.

Finally, at the center, I have placed the Maiden’s Tower, floating in a sea of clouds rather than water. For me, this represent the 'Eternal Istanbul'—the poetic soul of the city that remains untouched by the concrete surrounding it. The doves are messengers of peace, navigating the space between the sky and the stone. Creating this work was a way for me to process the feeling of being enclosed by the new world, while still finding that open, luminous space at the center of our heritage. It is my love letter to a city that is simultaneously disappearing and yet, at its core, completely indestructible
