Street Crossing

In Street Crossing, I wanted to capture the frantic, beautiful static of the city—the way shadows from buildings bleed into the neon of a shop front, or how a face in the crowd becomes a blur of color before you can even register it.

The monotype process is the perfect language for this; it is a singular, unrepeatable occurrence, much like a specific moment at a busy crossing. I chose to house the piece in a neon pink acrylic frame because I didn't want the artwork to end at the edge of the paper. I wanted the light to pass through the frame and bathe the print in an artificial, electric glow, mimicking the hyper-saturated environment of our modern streets. For me, this work is about energy and the layers of information we process every second. It is a small, glowing fragment of a larger world—a reminder that even in the chaos of the crossing, there is a complex and vibrant harmony to be found
