The Dancer

In The Dancer, I wanted to freeze the precise moment where a physical movement becomes an emotion. Dance is so fleeting; I’ve always found it challenging to translate that raw, temporary energy into something that stays still. I used the monotype process because it feels like a performance in itself—you have one chance to get the impression right, and once the paper is lifted, that specific moment is gone forever.

I chose the neon pink frame because I wanted the light to act as a spotlight, much like in the theater. The way the acrylic catches the light and casts a pink glow onto the edges of the paper creates a sense of stage lighting, making the dancer feel as though she is still performing within the frame. The white arc across the top isn't just a line; it’s the lingering trail of a gesture—a memory of the motion that just happened. For me, this work is about the strength and grace that exists in a single, focused second. It’s an invitation to feel the vibration of the dance, even in the silence of the static image
