The Reforming

With The Reforming, I wanted to explore how identity is never a solid, fixed thing, but rather a collection of thousands of tiny experiences and moments that eventually settle into a silhouette.

Using glass beads and fishing line allows the portrait to breathe. It isn't a static image trapped in a frame; it reacts to the room, catching the light and swaying slightly when someone walks by. The rope at the top grounds the piece in a raw, physical reality, while the beads themselves create a shimmering, almost ethereal quality.

I titled this piece The Reforming because as you move around it, the figure seems to dissolve and come back together again—much like how we constantly lose and find ourselves as we navigate through life. It is an invitation to look past the surface and appreciate the intricate, individual elements that make up the whole
