The painter and sculptor Giorgio Piccaia was born in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1955, and currently lives and works in Agrate Conturbia, Piedmont, Italy. His father was also an artist, and together they were involved in artistic circles in Geneva and later in Milan.

Two pivotal encounters significantly shaped his art: the first was his meeting with John Cage during the iconic concert at the Teatro Lirico in Milan in 1977, and the second was with Jerzy Grotowski, with whom he worked at the Laboratory Theater in Wroclaw in 1978.

The technique of stripping away the non-essential, inspired by these two masters, remains a defining feature of Piccaia's work to this day. In the early 1980s, he attended Corrado Levi's classes at the Faculty of Architecture in Milan, a formative experience that led him, after experimenting with the body through performances and happenings, to establish himself in painting and visual arts.

In 2018, during exchanges with Gregory Sinaite, a Greek Orthodox monk he met during a trip to St. Catherine's Monastery in Sinai, Egypt, Piccaia delved into discussions about art and rediscovered the figure of Leonardo Pisano, also known as Fibonacci, a mathematician from the early Middle Ages.

Currently, his artistic project is linked to the Fibonacci Sequence and myosotis flowers, which Piccaia describes as symbols of "bringing me back to the simplicity of Nature and the rediscovery of Happiness."
