Virginia Bersabé is a Spanish visual artist who graduated from the Faculty of Art in 2013 and holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, which she received in 2015. She has held more than five solo exhibitions both in Spain and abroad. Notable recent exhibitions include Paysage Immobile at PDP Gallery in Paris, And You Will Kiss the Forehead of Your Time at the Huerto de San Antonio Foundation (Úbeda, Spain), and Morada al Sur at the Antonio Gala Foundation. She has also participated in numerous local and international group exhibitions, including shows in France, Los Angeles (USA), India, Brazil, and Algeria.
Bersabé has received several awards and grants for her painting. These include the First Prize for Young Creators in the Carmen Arias National Competition (2022), an art residency at Córdoba Ciudad de las Ideas (2022), the Aid for Creation grant from the Rafael Botí Foundation (2021), the Aid for Research, Creation, and Production in the Visual Arts from the Spanish Ministry of Culture (2021), and the Daniel Vázquez Díaz Grant for the Creation of Visual Arts (2021). She also won the El Público-Canal Sur Radio and TV Visual Arts Award for her project Manojo de Recuerdos (2018).
Bersabé has participated in several international artist residencies, including Artifariti in Western Sahara, two residencies in India, and others in Spain. Her work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, the University of Seville, and the Antonio Gala Foundation.
Her practice critically explores the basic structures of contemporary culture, particularly focusing on themes of aging, memory, and cultural heritage. She currently resides in Spain and works internationally.
