Lisa Marie Vlietstra is a visual artist who uses performance, photography, video, and writing to translate her ideas. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and later completed a two-year Master's program in experimental filmmaking at the Netherlands Film Academy, also in Amsterdam. During her education, she traveled extensively and attended various residencies abroad.

After finishing her Master's, she moved to Andalusia, to a remote town near Seville, where she founded an artist residency focused on female artists collaborating with local girls and women from the area. Through her work, she seeks to explore and address her obsession with the human concept of self-perception—what it means for individuals to relate to themselves and to "the other." What is the relationship we have with ourselves in the reality of our minds, our egos, and our physical existence?

Her work aspires to provoke (self-)reflection on the act of "showing" oneself, exploring the many ways women can choose to do so. She aims to inspire women to collectively rethink how they are conditioned to see and present themselves, and to reconnect with their authenticity—cultivating a deeper sense of who they truly are.
